Dubai is still a fairly young city — just about 50 years old. Expats were only allowed to buy property in 2002, and Airbnb listings in Dubai have existed for less than a decade. That means the market is relatively new, but also increasingly competitive.
Many hosts think a great location is enough to attract bookings. But let’s be honest: if you were choosing an Airbnb, wouldn’t you go for the one that feels warm, inviting, and has that extra oomph?
The challenge is that most Dubai apartments and villas are very minimal in architecture — no French windows, crown moulding, or hardwood floors. Clean lines can easily feel cold and characterless. That’s where thoughtful design and styling make all the difference.
Keep it neutral (with contrast): light walls + darker accents so photos pop.
Add durable textures: washable slipcovers, jute rugs, linen bedding.
Bring in local flair: rattan lights, Arabesque mirrors, pottery accents.
Mix, don’t match: avoid a full IKEA fit-out — add one or two standout pieces.
Modernize bathrooms: ditch bidets/tubs, add sleek walk-in showers.
Layer the lighting: ceiling + floor lamps + sconces for warmth.
Stay cohesive: every room should feel connected, not random.
Hide the storage: slim wardrobes, floating shelves, storage benches.
Add greenery: olive-style plants or pampas for instant warmth.
Style little moments: a tray with a candle, a cozy throw, or a reading nook.
